A textured rubber mudguard and outsole provide nonslip traction on smooth surfaces (but use caution on ice, please!) and are water resistant and great in dry cold conditions. No treads so they won't track in snow. 

There are two shock cord/toggle cinch points so that you can keep your foot in place, and snow out (or cool air--brrrr). 

Cute, over-the-ankle height is very packable and practical. Washer/dryer friendly.
